Yes, but not well. And no com objects, so caveat emptor.

Incidentally I've had a better time running PHP on Windows than ASP on Linux. Still, infinitely better to use the right tool for the job.

As far as I have noticed a lot of LINUX hosting providers don't support ASP on their servers.

If you need to use ASP, go with Windows.

I believe you can run ASP.net using that.

    First, ASP is NOT .NET
Second, have you tried it, because if you have you would understand it's not a complete implementation, thus not reliable.

    Many hosting providers? Really?

You will actually find that you have a hard time finding a host that has this on their server. Especially since it's no longer under development by Sun.

We still have it on some of our older servers..... but it is indeed pretty limited as stated earlier here. And yes it is still developed but under a different name... and is far more expensive. Pretty much everything can be run on linux, there's even a Coldfusion for linux (it's basically java anyway)

Yeah, Sun Java System Active Server Pages, but the download has been removed from Suns website. But you would probably know better, but I can't seem to find it.

As far as coldfusion, Adobe supports Linux, as well as a few other OS's, which is the complete opposite of ASP or .NET from Microsoft.

However, after try it in a couple of server, I decided to not use it anymore, it's very unstable

If you want a Chevy, with all the options, why go to the Ford dealership? Sure, they might have an old beater around in the used lot, but you won't be able to do a custom order.

Mono fits a lot better on the desktop. Linux is my main OS, and there are quite a bit of great software written in C# only available on Linux

Maybe because Ford makes a better product. A Ford with a Chevy logo on it is still better than a Chevy

If you want true ASP, you're stuck with the environment it's built for, Windows. There's a couple 'hacks' to get it working in Linux, but it's a YMMV thing. Sometimes it'll work, sometimes it won't, sometimes it'll do both!
