SSH shell account provider
I am looking for an SSH account to use for
tunneling web surfing traffic through putty..
I was curious, are there any good and fast
providers out there??
I dont need any IRC service or anything, just
a fast and stable ssh shell account for
web surfing...
THANKS!

Hi datamonkey,
Might be helpful to include an idea of what your budget is, and how much bandwidth you're likely to move (if known).

Give us some more details! have you looked at VPS Solutions? maybe a small 64mb ram plan would fit you.

any vps or dedicated server should do. Use someone close to your location though.

I think a VPN service will be the best solution for you.

Definitely a VPS if you aren't going to use it for IRC. It's hard to find IRC VPS but you aren't using it for IRC. Try burst.net they have affordable services and stability with them is great in my opinion.

Have a look at SliceHost ( http://www.slicehost.com/) or Linode ( http://www.linode.com) for a cheap, fast VPS. I've used them both, and both are as good as each other, although Linode provides a more RAM and bandwidth.

Providers like http://www.luminode.com/ and http://www.quadspeedi.net/ can offer you a shell much cheaper than a VPS or VPN plan. If you aren't going to use much bandwidth, any plain shell will be just fine.
Keep in mind that if you're doing this to protect against local traffic analysis, you may need to do something about DNS resolver requests from your computer. Setting the web browser to use an ssh/socks proxy will still cause local resolver traffic.

My company use Burst.net for its dedicated servers. I'd highly recommend them.
