fully managed hosting for live broadcasting

I have 250-500 dollar budget to host a social network website with live broadcasting and video streaming capabilities-let's say that it will be something similar to www.livevideo.com. I need a hosting company in USA--Texas is a good place. The first month is going to have 200 users a day, and videos are going to be high resolution and many other types.

What do you recommend in terms of fully managed hosting companies with experience in live broadcasting, bandwidth, and fully managed servers?
    any help is welcomed...

What kind of media are you going to broadcast?(format, bitrate, etc.) There are many managed server providers that can help you if they know the details of what you're after. You may find that your budget is too low for what you're after.

    Kind Regards,

The formats are going to be .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG transferred from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones.

What fully managed hosting companies do you recommend?

    Hi,

It is a good idea to use Texan web hosts. Check The Planet or other smaller companies. I think you should be able to get a Xeon based machine for the money you are willing to pay.

I would recommend looking at a CDN if you are just in need of storage and delivery- you can add a managed server component if you need to outsource the applications, transcoding, etc. with a CEN, you don't need to be concerned with the geographical location of your equipment.

    Locality???

Everyone is suggesting this or that location yet I have not seen ANY reference to where these clients are located.

For this kind of site you really need to be located close to where your core user groups are located. And there are decent providers in MANY states. Not just Texas.

If the user groups are concentrated or geographically diverse, a CDN will distribute the content evenly and efficiently across a variety of regions (North America, Europe, AsiaPac). Also allows for a variety of delivery formats without infrastructure changes-you need a CDN that operates a global netowrk or at least national, not just one with a rack at a single hosting or colo facility. Much easier to scale and keep costs close to the vest with a CDN than building a complete solution yourself- hosetd or colo'd.

Another thing I messed to say is that it is a good idea to give a phone call to some web hosts and to ask them to recommend a software platform for video sharing network. If you want someone to have experience with this kind of web hosting, they should know what to recommend.

As previously stated a CDN would be the most beneficial in terms of scalability and availability. At your current price-point I would suggest a single managed server for your web presence and a CDN solution to accelerate your video content delivery.
