Dedicated Hosting Offers - Transfer Value

Hi,

I have been looking at the offers in the Web Hosting Talk->Advertising Forums->Web Hosting Offers->Dedicated Hosting Offers forum and I cannot find any explanation for the transfer value.

When an advertiser says 10Tb Transfer (ignore case, as I've seen an advert where it is 10TB in the subject and 10Tb in the body)

Anyway, my question, is the 10Tb in bits or bytes (cannot determine from the case, already established inconsistencies here)

Also, over what period of time is the 10T bits/bytes, E.G. is is that amount of data per day, week, month, year etc.

Any light on what the transfer value would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

would be best to ask in each individual sellers thread if you are intrested in purchasing but 10tb normaly equates to 10,000gb per month

Most of the time, its 10TB (10'000GB) of bandwidth, and its a monthly quota.

But you'd be best to ask the company in question yourself.

Hi,

Bandwidth will be expressed in Bytes and not in bits usually. It's always better to consult the provider before signing up.
Period of time will be per month.

I'm sure they mean TerraBytes. The TB should be caps as Tb is Terrabits. If they could give you a 10 terrabit connection that's be amazing.

Bytes are generally monthly while bits are per second.

Sticky

Hi,

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies.

Is it worth creating a sticky thread explaining the conventions and also requesting that when the advertisers post their specs, that the TB transfer value should be in TBytes per month?

Thanks again.
