Which host for website with mySQL database?

Hi guys Im from the UK and have just had a website created for me where I can store my photos on. It uses JSP + MySQL for the databse which stores the photo IDs, photo location etc. I want to get it up and running on the net but have no idea how to do this! Can anyone suggest some hosting sites that don't cost too much and also guide me on how it works and what I need to do!

    Any help would be great.

    John

Hello John and welcome to WebHostingTalk. Any managed web host should be able to help you get started, and many hosts will set it up for you!

    Hi Sparky123,

Thanks for the quick reply. Can you suggest any hosts? I don't want to have any adverts or anything. I only want to have the website up and running for 3 months while I am travelling and I don't want to be spending a fortune.

    Thanks

Not at all, he needs a host offering JSP/Servlets support which it's not very common.

To the OP, unfortunately, I can't suggest you any host, however, if you're looking to pay for reliability, be prepared to pay at least a 50% more than for regular hosting.

It looks to me like this company doesn't have many good reviews:

You can have a look at eApps.com

Though they offer only vps, the pricing is pretty cheap. And they are known for quality service.

I know ValueWeb does JSP, but they aren't very good as far as service and support goes. If all you need is space, they might be a suggestion. Please note I do not recommend them at all and I'm just informing you they have the ability to help.

I suggest you look for quality stuff instead of cheap stuff.
I've had some bad experiences with anhosting and then midphase, but once sorted I'm been working well with them.

Jreiss, anhosting and midphase are of the same company.

    Thx.
Well, I know that, in any case I have moved into a Midphase VPS plan and the problems were the same... for some time.

    Hiya,

I have my website (JSP based with MySQL database) set up on my localhost but I want other people to be able to access my site. How can I do this? Do I just give them my computer address? Im using Apache Tomcat and EasyPHP.

    Anyone?

    Thank you
