    Randy Pausch's Last Lecture

I just watched Randy Pausch's Last Lecture titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams".

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

I'm not sure how well known this lecture is. I know I hadn't heard of him or the lecture until earlier today.

For those that don't know, Randy is a professor of computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. In September 2006 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and in August last year he was told he had three to six months to live.

Having just watched his last lecture, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the last hour has been the most valuable hour I've ever spent on the Internet.

If you do anything today, please, watch this lecture. 75 minutes of talking on stage and I wasn't bored for a second. It was funny, motivating, inspiring, engaging and quite moving.

Here are a couple of quotes from Wikipedia about the lecture.

Before speaking, Pausch received a long standing ovation from a large crowd of over 400 colleagues and students. When he motioned them to sit down, saying, "Make me earn it," some in the audience shouted back, "You did!"
During the lecture, Pausch was upbeat and humorous, alternating between wisecracks, insights on computer science and engineering education, advice on building multi-disciplinary collaborations, working in groups and interacting with other people, offering inspirational life lessons, and performing push-ups on stage.
I highly recommend taking an hour out to watch it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo

I gave up on my childhood dreams. The women that were in them are too old now.

Shame that he has passed however.

He looked so young and fit too.

I'm now starting to question my own immortality.

The cancer finally caught up with him. It had spread far further than they initially thought.

Thanks for the link, I loved it.

Best part IMO was at the end "Figure out the second head fake? This wasn't for you, it was for my kids."
