    Angry ICQ Spammer !!!

    Hi there,

yesterday I was "attacked" by an ICQ spammer who wanted me to download some new brouser from *******.com

Firstly, I asked him, what was his name and whom he represented, and what he wanted from me, but the only words I got from him were:

"get the browser for free @ http://www.*********.com"

"cool click this link then http://www.******.com/Download/*******V.1.01.exe"

He sent me the same messages hundred times until I threw him where he's meant to be - to my Ignore list!

Be aware: his ICQ# is 167549916

I find this way of advertising inacceptable! I hoop you agree with me

So, once again I made sure I'm right: they are banned from this forum

I feel sorry for you, but what's the point of posting here?

Also, why are you posting the URL of the spammer's site? You shoud take it out, otherwise people may mistake you as a spammer trying to promote your own site by complaining about spams. (and why are you posting his ICQ# anyway?)

I don't think it is appropriate for you to post here. I can post about 15 posts for all the spams I have received today, but I don't. Why? because it doesn't do anyting besides wasting peoples's attention and wasting storage space on webhostingtalk.com. There is absolutely nothing we can do - so don't post about it.

I don't mean to sound rude; spamming is a real problem. But what you are doing is not helping, but making it worse. Spam waste people's attention and storage space. Ironically, your post is doing the same.

    thanks for your observation, Peter,
maybe I really shouldn't post their dirty URL...
But the only thing I wanted was to warn the others about this.

Well, what could we do about this? Add his ICQ# to the block list?

His next victim probably will not be a member of webhostingtalk.com, but let's do a calculation -

One person spends 1 minutes reading your post plus adding the number to the block list.

There are, well, lets say 100 reading your thread and taking actions.

That means 100 minutes have just been wasted in the universe, while the spammer is spamming *some one else*.

Again, not mean to be rude - We can all agree that spamming is a problem. But we must be careful in how to react to it, so as to not become spammer ourselves. (in the sense of wasting attentions, time, and resources.)
