    Firstly, DO NOT USE TELNET.

    Try using ssh (standard) or something that actually uses encryption.

    Go to linuxdoc.org and find a newbie sys admin guide, it's worth learning.

    Why not use Telnet? (just curious - and you probably know how little I know about it now... )

    Telnet = UNSECURE
    SSH = SECURE SHELL

    Get puTTY. Excelent software, free and small download.

    Omni telnet of course unsecure, but if you don't have other choice just do this: press Start->Run in RUN window type:

    Telnet transmits data in plain text from your terminal to the server..

    So if you are logging into your server all data that travels b/twn your computer and the server is open to be collected and read by anyone that can capture your packets...

    SSH encrypts all the data that goes b/twn the two computers.

    Please PM me with some details. I most likely can help you accomplish what you are looking to do. If you are hosting with a web hosting company, they are probably the most appropriate people to help you do this, as they will have access to information and directories that we will not have.
