Assistance moving to dedicated account needed

Apologies for this first post and not previously becoming a part of the community but my current host referred me here.

I have a site that has, over time, acquired a large database and a very sudden increase in traffic. Easy solution - move to a dedicated server.

Problem is that the database is large and is causing problems with the move.

The move is from a DirectAdmin control panel to a WHM/cPanel setup.

I need assistance in getting the job done right, fast and soon.

I am, of course, willing to pay for the work and expertise.

Please either PM or Skype Call me and we can get moving.

    Thanks.

Are you moving to a dedicated server with the same host? If so, ask them to create a MySQL dump (assuming thats the db you're using) and transfer it to your new dedicated. Then, you can import your database into your MySQL server using:

    mysql dbname -u User -ppassword < mysqldumpfile.sql

Yep, that'd be the best way to do it.

    mysqldump dbname -u User -pPassword > /home/youraccount/public_html/dump.sql

    Then on the new dedi:

    wget http://yourwebsite.ext/dump.sql
    mysql dbname -u User -ppassword < dump.sql

    Just a quick note.

I had to leave the country for a few days and so I apologise for my non-response.
I hooked up with the guys at SupportMatrix and as a direct result we are now up and running on the new server. Communication was a breeze, once I had an internet connection and the instructions for the stuff I needed to do to get things going were clear enough that the previous hosting outfit were able to to their thing as well.

Thanks to all who posted, it really is appreciated. This problem was being a real bear to deal with and seeing that there are folks out there who have done this before is a real help in itself.

    Andrew.
