firefox, ie and outlook internet connection

    hey guys

this morning my firefox, ie or outlook wont connect to the internet.

i can ping sites in the command line and i can access the internet fine through safari. my ftp program works fine too.

all i can think that's changed is a windows update - i clicked "update my computer then switch off" last night before going to bed. im worried incase spybot prevented parts from updating but the computer thinks it has updated, or something...

im gonna uninstall and reinstall firefox the now to see if it's any better.

anyone got any ideas what could be up and how to resolve it?

    Maybe check your windows defender
Is quite "bad" when at each Windows update your system settings get reset to Microsoft ones. I use The Bat instead Outlook, and at each update, Windows is switching all settings back to default Outlook.

usually if anything happens to your connection, a firewall is to blame.
