Most offer PHPBB because it is free.

VBulletin costs money, albeit not very much.

But you can google for VBulletin hosts to find a specialist one.

Either you pay for the licence yourself or the licence is in the hosting fee!

Siteground will sell you the licence and then install it for you.

I've seen a few new hosters offer this and fail. Basically it's the same as a shared hosting package + the price of the Vbulletin license ... which is the same as buying an account and getting your own license.

    Yes, I agree.

Its always better to get your own license.

    Never heard of any...

BTW, what do you mean by fail? Goes bankrupt?

It's a better option to get your own license and I haven't seen any host offering vBulletin. vB doesn't have any sort of reseller program, and if you buy in bulk it's still over $100 for a license.

That's all relative. Some people think that $5 hosting can be called expensive, and hosting with free vBulletin would quite likely be several times that amount.

Theoretically, a host could negotiate a lower vBulletin fee, if they bring the company enough business. The principle remains though, I agree.

I don't thing any server will give you license for Vbulletin. Even if they offer, they will include the license fees in your hosting package indirectly. I'll suggest to keep server fees and vbulletin fees separately. You not only get good rates for your hosting package, but also if in future, you're planning to switch to other hosting company, you can freely move without any botheration of vbulletin license.

You could buy a vBulletin license and the host will probably install it for you, but give it to you for free I don't think anyone offers that.

Well more like there were certain problems with the license ownership of the people that bought it and decided to use the money back guarantee and cancel. I've seen a few threads on another forum and I think it was a monthly fee (something like 20-30 bucks) but they faced a lot of problems and decided to stop offering it. The other company that I've seen was offering the nulled script and it was a scam.

And to the OP there are lots of licenses that are for sale (people no longer need them) and you can get them for cheaper than the original price.

    I see.
There should be a policy in the TOS stating that money back guarantee will be nulled if the vB script is used.
Otherwise they should make it a yearly plan.

Owned vBulletin license costs $160 and it is too expensive to be included in hosting plans just like that. A cheaper and very good alternative is SMF. If you need vBulletin you'd talk to some web hosts and to asked them about any kind of sponsorship or other form of partnership.

Can't some bigger host buy vBulletin licenses in bulk for cheaper, and then those savings could be passed onto customers?

that'd be stupid because vbulletin isn't made for a shared hosting environment.

Hmm, how many of the vBulletin forums out there use shared hosting and how many use other hosting solutions? I'm willing to bet thousands that shared hosting would be the leader.

Yes, vBulletin is perfectly capable of handling +100 users online at the same time. It just all depends how many of them are loading a page at the same time and accessing the database.
