    What's Happening at Dedicatedplace.com?! [ Merged ]

    Anyone have any contacts at DedicatedPlace.com?
    My server has been down about 2 hours. Their support center is down and also their main page seems to be going up and down. No one is answering emails. Any ideas what's happening?

    I think they are a Layeredtech reseller.

    Hi,

    Our server is down as well...no response...etc...
    We don't know either whats going on...our server is down as well since this morning!

    Seems like a major problem!

    I've been talking to Layered Tech (Dedicated Place are a reseller of them).

    Dedicated Place apparently owe them lots of money (they say) and have until late tomorrow to pay.

    My Dedicated Place server is down also, so I've moved my main site off already to my backup server and am looking for a new host right now.

    I'm down too.. according to DP, it's a network issue. Good grief I hope that is all that is wrong.
    Robho.. how did you contact Layered Tech? We need to know WTH is going on.

    How did you contact DP? Layered Tech seem quite clear it's financial. (I contacted Layered tech with the live support/sales chat box on their site)

    My goodness.. will layered tech offer us refugee status?

    This is nuts. I got a ticket in when their site was up for a little while. Dexter said network issues, but I'm really worried now.

    Layered Tech did mention it might (or might not) be possible to take over the server direct, but as that's not until DP have had a final chance to pay it won't been until at least thursday.

    Which is way too long to have a site down, which is why I moved it - and find as usual that backups are only 90% complete :-(

    Hmmmm now I am really worried as well :-(

    There is reason for serious concern: I've chatted with the online helpdesk as well. I got the e-mail address of the agent.
    If I don't hear anything tomorrow 9/4 COB I should contact them for a "server transfer".

    The agent did not want to acknowledge any rumors about financial problems but he did let me know that there _is_ something seriously going wrong....

    This is bad news: lets wait and see what tomorrow brings. (while my website is not available which SUCKS bigtime)

    me: Hi, our site at dedicatedplace is down....do you know whats going on?
    me: some kind of technical issues?
    me: I know the servers are from the layertech farm....I cannot reach anybody at decicated....
    Layertech: We are sorry that you are having problems with your accessibility with your server. We encourage you to contact your reseller in regards to your services.
    me: no they are completely offline....rumour is dedicatedplace.com has financial problems?
    Layertech: If you are unable to receive a favorable response by 5:00pm CST on 4/9/08, feel free to contact us.
    Layertech: but
    Layertech: Please keep in mind in order for us to consider a server transfer, you must first posses root access to the server.

    Layertech: I would try to contact them, and then if you do not get through to them, by COB tomorrow, you can e-mail me directly

    I just got the same info.. if it's not resolved by COB tomorrow they should be able to do a tranfer if you have root access.

    DedicatedPlace - where did they go?

    Anyone know if there is just a connectivity issue currently?
    My server, their site and their support site are all 404.
    Quite sure they had their support site in a different data centre.

    A little worried as no communication from them.

    And LT will not allow even 24hrs grace for customers caught up in this wrangle. I've offered to pay, to take out a new server, but they will not budge. Just 'tough titties' from them..

    tried to get some info from the tech via the live chat they have at Layer

    he is my story:

    Visitor: is there an issue with dp?

    tech: Hello. How can I assist you today?
    Visitor: I was wondering if you guys are reselers for dedicated place?

    tech: Are you a customer of their`s?
    Visitor: yes I have a dedicat there
    tech: Ok. I would contact them and if they don;`t give you a reasonable response by the end of business tomorrow, get in touch with us again.
    Visitor: that would be great--but there whole system is down-support page/contact us everything--its not onlyme as well other people o know that use them are down as well..any idea how to contact them or what is going on? losing big bucks here
    Visitor: I sent an email to them from an old email ihad-but that was over 6 hours ago with no responce
    tech: I completely understand what`s happening, and the only thing you can do is contact them. We will work with you tomorrow night if you need assistance with your server.
    tech: I am sorry you are having this problem.

    yeah, look us up tomorrow after we've had your servers offline for nearly 48hrs without offering any interim solution, despite DP customers offering to pay or do whatever else it would take to keep the servers online.
    LT obviously don't give a rats about end users...

    i have sent email to the whois contact at dedi, sent email to support, sent message via yahoo messanger, and havent heard anything back......dont have a good feeling about this..the only assurance I have is layered has said data has not been lost....bad bad day

    Hello,

    I have 3 server from dedicatedplace.com 1 is still working 2 are dead.
    I mailed with dexter from dp support 8 hours ago. He wrote that they have a problem with the network of the datacenter.

    I hope all will work fast again.

    If not i need very fast 2 new servers.
    Did anybody know another good host that offer QC/DP Xeon 5320 or bigger, fully managed in the usa. payment only over epassorte or paypal?

    If anybody know one or more please write me a pm.

    I'm pee'd off at DP but even more pee'd off with LT.

    They will do nothing to mitigate this problem. At the very least they could have given those requesting it 24hrs of IP connectivity as a goodwill measure, to allow for smooth transition to them or another host come COB on the 9th.
    Instead, they choose to leave all the innocent parties to hang out to dry.

    Why in anyone's name would anyone want cut over to them tomorrow, when they show such obvious disregard for current customers, albeit, 2nd line customers. Oh yeah.. wait, they know that we will want our data.. of course...watch for the *new* pricing for the current plans. I mean, they have us hostage don't they...

    I'm in the same boat here as everyone else. This is unbelievable. I really don't expect to hear from dedicatedplace.com again. I have had a server from them since Oct 2005 and now this. I agree, the worst part is what Layered Tech is doing. As much as I don't like laywers, this is time I really wish I knew what the law said on them holding our data files from us! Layered Tech has not done anything to keep my business with their data center. I hope we can get our files within the next 24 hours.

    Gah, just registered to say I am in the same boat. Was scouring the LT site to look for any information, didn't think about checking the live chat, though. All I hope is that my data is ok, nothing else. Hopefully LT can save the day tomorrow...

    I think it's not just dedicatedplace problem. I can't find the live chat on layeredtech website, it points me to the contact form (looks like LT changed the link). Layeredtech's datacenter is savvis.

    Live Chat is offline, because it's out of hours, hence the flip through to the contact form. Savvis appears all OK from my end

    I don't think this is a technical issue at all.
    Really pissed off as well: server down for 48 hours....no response...and LT wants to wait! :-(

    We're indeed taking hostage....I'd pay a lot of money to have my server online right now...

    Lets wait and see what they offer!

    I chatted with Layered Tech support a couple hours ago. They told me I had to talk with dedicatedplace.com for help. I explained that they are not responding and there is no way of getting a hold of them. I asked if they had any suggestions or recommendations.....I got nothing back from them....
