    Fire Alarm !!!!!!!!!!!! Chicago - EQ

    Dear Equinix Customer,

    This email is to inform you that at 11:34 AM (Site Local Time) on 04-7-2008 the CH1 and CH2 Equinix IBX, which is located at located at 350 East Cermak Road, 5th and 6th Floor, Chicago, IL 60616 reported a fire alarm. This situation is being tracked under SR# 1024083.

    Event Description: A fire alarm in the CH1 and CH2 IBX center was triggered and everyone inside the building was evacuated. The Fire Department was on location and confirmed that there was no sign of fire or damage. As of 11:51 AM (Site Local Time), the Fire Department confirmed that it was safe to re-enter the building.

    CH1 and CH2 site management is currently investigating the root cause of the fire alarm.

    I stopped by the day after to hook up some new equipment and it definitely smelt like burnt rubber on the Fifth floor. Security would not confirm nor deny the smell was from the previous day's incident.
