Are you brave (stupid?) enough to do this?

I seriously almost hurled my midnight snack when I watched this video. I have a huge fear of heights and this video really riled me.

    Enjoy.

After four people died in two accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed the entrances.

I duno...it doesn't really look that bad. As long as the path is tested enough so that they're sure it won't break or something...

I'm not really afraid of heights - I'd probably be more afraid of the path breaking when stepping on it too hard or something.

Yeah, I'm really afraid of heights. That'd be unbelievably nerve wrecking for me.

I could probably walk it, although I don't know if I'd be enthusiastic about it... Maybe if I had a parachute on?

I watched the last video, the un-edited one... I was like sure... Up until the part where there was just a skinny bar and like 4ft of the path was missing...

Via Ferrata's are awesome. Scary as heck, but awesome none the less. I've done a few in the past, although not quite as on the edge as this one. I reckon I could do it. After using harnesses in climbing and crate stacking for 14 years I've learnt to trust them, and Via Ferrata's are no different. You're clipped on to a line at all times.

Via Ferrata's are what the miners used to get to their mining grounds.

In 1901 it was obvious that the workers of the Chorro Falls and Gaitanejo Falls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide transport of materials, vigilance and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway lasted four years. It was finished in 1905.

It would be a great if they can rebuild it. With the present technologies it will be much safer and may last much longer.

Nice.. However, if I had to, I would just swim around, then climb the mountain one shot. I am not good at balance when it comes to walking on bars.

    Peace,

    See, now that's interesting.

You wouldn't do it if you didn't get paid because you think you might get hurt and die, right?

Does a one million dollar cheque make you any less likely to get hurt? In the back of your head, you must know you're not going to get hurt. I mean, I wouldn't jump out of a plane with no parachute even if I was going to be paid a million dollars because I know I would die, so to say you would do it for a million dollars you must know you're not going to die or get hurt. (unless the plane was on the ground, before all those smart asses out there say so)

So... why not do it for zero dollars if you know you're not going to get hurt? There's a safety line attached to you, and as you do it you'll feel all alive (trust me, if you've never shouted at the top of your voice "I feel alive!!" without actually meaning to shout it, you've never known what it feels like to be alive (unless you've given birth to a kid... before I get shouted at by all the mothers out there). I shouted it last week when I tried rolling my kayak, got stuck underwater for too long and panicked (a lot!). I eventually got out of the kayak in the freezing cold water and damn at that very moment I knew what it was like to be alive. ).

Live people, live. Don't think of what might happen if you fall. Think of what might happen if you complete it. The views. The satisfaction. The "I've done something only a handful of the world has ever done" feeling. Sure, you get scared. I got scared when the_pm and I were sat on Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point, but it's only by getting scared and stepping outside our comfort zones that we build ourselves as people. Become best friends with your safety line and you'll start to enjoy life even more than you do now, and maybe... just maybe, you'll find yourself shouting "Damn, I feel alive!!" every once in a while.

The fact that Tina was interested and excited by that video and this post is so popular suggests you're all excited by things like that. I say stop being excited by somebody else doing it, and start being thrilled by feeling it for yourself.

And that, class, concludes the days lesson on stepping outside your comfort zone.

I would do it. Thats pretty spiffy! some trails in the Santa Monica mountains get scary (on a bike) but that looks like fun.
