Hello, I have a server that I've had for years from the old ev1. Ive about outgrown it and Im shopping around for a new server. Im a little confused that the double Ram offer if you could please answer a question. It says sign up for 3 month billing and get double the ram and later you can switch to monthly billing but can not keep the ram upgrade. So if I got say a $199/month quad core and paid for 3 months which doubled the ram from 2gb to 4gb. If I later switch to monthly billing the extra ram would be pulled and it would be back to 2gb? Thanks for your time.

You are able to go month to month after your initial 3 months and KEEP THE DOUBLE RAM. If you pay for 1 you will get 2GB. If you pay for 2GB you will get 4GB etc... You will get the extra ram free for the life of your account regardless of what billing cycle you are on.

What I meant in the fine print was, you are not allowed to pay for 4GB ram, get 8 GB ram, then downgrade next month to 4GB ram and think you are going to get the extra 4GB ram we gave you free for free. Sorry for the confusion.

    I'm confused with this too.

If I order a server with 4GB RAM and you double it to 8GB, and it's for life, how would it be downgraded to 4GB... I'm already paying for 4GB and you doubled it to 8GB.
    What am I missing here?

I may be mis-reading this right now, but it does'nt seem to make much sense?? Could you clairfy what you are trying to say?

It seems you are trying to say you can't downgrade to a lower spec say to 2GB and still keep the 4GB free RAM?

Im a bit confused, I apologise for this.

I am sorry again for the confusion. I will try to explain again.

We charge $10/mo per GB ram upgrade. Lets assume you sign up our Core2duo at $119 per month (comes with 1GB ram standard) and upgrade to 2GB ram your total monthly cost would be $129. With the promotion you will get 4GB ram for $129/mo. You cannot later say you want to downgrade to 2 GB ram, have your bill lowered to $109 ($10 per GB) and still keep the 2GB ram we gave you free. Under this scenario you are paying $109 per month for a Core2Duo with 2GB ram which would normally be $129.

I'm a new Hivelocity.net's customer, just signed up a few days ago for a new dedicated server. I just realized that I can't use HL's name servers without paying additional $5 monthly fee. This extra charge should be stated on the website or added to the list of configuration during shopping. I used to be ThePlanet.com's customer and this service is included in all servers.

I don't know if I make the right decision to switch to HL and I don't know what other services I will have to pay when TP provides them for free.
