Since every time I installed or uninstall a component in Joomla, the ownership changes to the server so I have to send a ticket for them to chown it. At first my hosting was very supportive about it. However, yesterday, I just started another site in Joomla and I had to send a ticket for them to chown the files, they told me I have to start installing Joomla component by FTP. They could not tell me how to install Joomla component by FTP. I could not find any where how to install Joomla component by FTP. Someone has told me that installing a complicated component is very difficult and time consuming. Since I am new to Joomla and don't know any thing about php, I don't know if I want to do that every time I want to install a component.
1) I just paid another year hosting with them last month, I am just wondering if I can still get the money back for 10 months left so I can move to another hosting.
2) Does anyone know where I can find a good shared hosting that supports phpsuexec, cpanel, FFMPEG, GD, Mplayer, Mencoder, and IonCube ? I am currently only paying around 11 dollars a month and using around 5G disk space and 10G bandwidth. I don't know if I a VPS will solve this problem and it is worth the money to pay for a VPS.
Thanks

You'll really need to look at thier TOS concerning cancellations and if they pro-rate the remaining months you don't use.

Generally most hosts will not want to refund you if you cancel early on a subscription unless it specifically states that they will in their Terms of Service. Read their ToS for their refund policy. You can still try asking for a refund, but to be honest I don't think they will give you one. I am sorry for the bad news.

That does not sound right because they can not give me an instruction or a link to how I can install a Joomla theme or component. Then technically I don't think they fulfill their ToS.

Baxao, not getting into the discussion if you should go away from your host, thats something you have to decide.
This is how you should install the component in joomla:
Quote:
Install from Directory
Create a temporary directory on your hard drive and decompress the compressed package into it, then with FTP you can upload the files and directories of the package into a directory on the server. Then in the Install Directory field specify the directory where you have uploaded the files and directories of the package. After that click on the Install button and Joomla! automatically installs the content of the given directory. You can read a message about the success of the procedure. If you get an error message, read it thoughtfully and make any required correction.

Hope this helps.

I would suggest you to give a call to your current web host and to explain them you need more support. Other web hosts would be the first which would welcome that you're changing the providers, however this will make you to loose time on switching hosts. Resolving the issue with you current provider is the best you can do. If you already decide to change hosts just go to offers section and choose some providers... but you will still need to speak to them about your project.
