Offering registration of domain names?
I'm just wondering with hosts who offer to register domain names for users.
Do you just go through a registrar to sign-up for a user? In the whois details where the registrar usually places their name - does anyone make deals with registrars to have their own name there - or know if this possible?
If I am understanding your question correctly...
Most hosts who offer domain names with hosting probably have a domain name reseller account (i.e. a eNom reseller account). They may also be their own registry.
Ta smidwap. I hadn't actually looked into the domain name side of things yet and didn't know there were actual domain name reseller accounts. Now I do.
Is eNom good? Do you know what other places are often recommended and possibly any that may be good for country extensions as well?
Put enom at the top of your list.
Also reputable is register.com. Their Global Partner plan is here: http://www.register.com/partner/index.cgi?1|3325362454|
Search Google.com using this term: 'domain registration reseller' and it turns up many more but they would have to be considered caveat emptor.
GoDaddy spun off their reseller service into a new company that looked so poor to me that I dropped them. I had them a couple of months when they did that and I just kissed the $99 goodbye.
