    403 error on files hosted

Hello guys. I have a subdomain specifically for hosting files that I use on other subdomains and eventually on other forums. It is images.<<snipped>>.info.

On its root there is a index.html linking some images (it is still unfinished), it opens ok and shows all images.

But when I open folders like http://images.<<snipped>>.info/banner/ or http://images.<<snipped>>.info/emotions/ nothing is shown. If I open files like http://images.<<snipped>>.info/hikaru.jpg or http://images.<<snipped>>.info/globe.gif I receive a 403 error.

What could be happening? It doesn't happen with images of other subdomains, only this one. All folders have chmod 775 and all files are 664, I already tested with 644 and got same error. Hotlink protection is disabled.

PS: plz remove hosts on replies, I'm posting them so you can verify for yourselves. After it is solved I will edit my post removing them to keep privacy

your best bet is probably to contact your host's support department so they can troubleshoot it with you.

Looks like they're either not CHMOD correctly, or they're owned by root (or another user).

    I'd check with your provider

    Sorry for the delay.

My host found out that the issue is being caused by htaccess. Indeed I renamed it and everything worked fine, renamed back and everything stopped working again

I'm noob on webhosting and my host warned me about breaking my site, so I idk how to fix the issue without creating another one somewhere else. This is my htaccess:

    Code:
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://******.no-ip.biz/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://******.no-ip.biz$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://******.blog.br/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://******.blog.br$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://gateway.******/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://gateway.******$ [NC]

Are u guys able to see what may be causing these errors?

One more note, at least for now I don't mind having the few images I have being linked elsewhere, indeed images. subdomain is my repository to post images fast. So I don't want to restrict links at all, I want them to be shown anywhere on any other domain they are linked.

Im not familiar with .htaccess but try removing these 2 lines:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://images.******net.info/.*$ [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://images.******net.info$ [NC]

Try disabling the hotlink protection of your cpanel (guessing that you're using cpanel), if that does works, then try to enable it again adding the subdomain to the list of domains with permission to "hotlink"

Issue solved, I had the following line on .htaccess, which was dropping any request to image files. I think now it is working fine

    RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]
