Question about multiply domains.

Hello,
I was wondering if I have multiply domains being redirect (parked or META refresh etc) Will Google and other popular Search engines count this as duplicate content if its parked?

If your multiply domains are being redirected to the one domain name I'm sure you won't be panished for the dublicate content

Google suggests 301 redirection. I don't think it will harm you with just a meta forward, but 301 is what they recommend.

I think the engines will follow the redirect, however if the redirect is to an already-indexes location than they will ignore the source of the redirect.

If an actual 301 redirection is set up that is fine. Meta refresh would be a problem, because to use it in this manner would appear to be spammy.

Google don't like "Meta refresh", use 301 redirect.

No,

Instead of using 301 redirect use 401 redirect.

Why would you want to use a "401 Unauthorized" status code for a redirect?

What is a meta refresh? LOL. First thing you should know is; Google does not care about "meta tags" anymore. It's Yahoo who does. There is no harm though.

Meta refresh is a method of instructing a web browser to automatically refresh the current web page after a given time interval, using an HTML meta element with the http-equiv parameter set to "refresh" and a content parameter giving the time interval in seconds. It is also possible to instruct the browser to fetch a different URL when the page is refreshed, by including the alternative URL in the content parameter. By setting the refresh time interval to zero (or a very low value), this allows meta refresh to be used as a method of URL redirection.

Not true. Google cares about their description tag and says so here. The commonly use it as a duplication checker as well. For instance if your using a default or boiler plate description across many pages on your website you could see those pages under preforming.

Meta refresh doesn't necessarily mean using meta tags. You could have the same effect doing a PHP Header:refresh, for example. No meta tags, but same effect on browsers. Unless jordanlw specifically meant the <meta> refresh method, there are a variety of ways meta information can be passed to a browser.

Regardless, temporary or permanent redirect statements are the best all around.

301=permanent redirect
Its what you need to be using to not get docked for duplicate content. If however you will be developing sites for the individual domains, you would want to use a 302 redirect, or temporary redirect until the new individual sites are live.
