ColdFusion MX 6.1 or need 8.0?

Hello all,

I have a dedicated server right now running PLESK for Windows and MS SQL 2000 w/CF MX 6.1

We're in the process of migrating to a NEW server that will be Windows 2003 R2 64bit.

Do we need to buy CF 8.0? Or can we use CF MX 6.1 still with the new 64bit OS? We also planned to load up MS SQL 2005, any issues with CF MX 6.1 and SQL 2005?

Thank you for any feedback, trying to avoid the $650 upgrade to 8.0 as we are fine with the current functionality of 6.1. If we are forced to u/g for interoperability I guess we won't have a choice...

Neither MX 6.1 or 8.0 will work on 64 bit. I believe Adobe is about to release an update to 8.0 which add full support for 64 bit. Don't know the timeframe though.

Thanks for the info, when you say neither will work, does that mean I can't even load the application on my 64 bit servers? Or it just won't take advantage of the 64bit architecture? Since our new PLESK servers are 64bit, I want to make sure the software will at least work even if it won't leverage the 64bit performance.

Thank you

It's a little more complex than that. I would recommend you take this to the HouseOfFusion mailing list instead:
