    Question HostingPuppy, more downtime!

Anyone know what HostingPuppy are playing at?
I've had a reseller account with them for 2-3 weeks and they constantly have outages. Apparently they have good uptime but from what I have experienced thats not the case.

Good thing they have a refund policy for each outage, if they're not careful they will owe me money

If in fact you are reselling for them and experiencing such problems - I'd look at another company myself.

What kind of downtime are we talking (how often, how long)

This may be a stupid question, but have you asked them about it?

Tried asking them, they said their server was under attack, that was last week (I think).
When my site is down so is theirs so I cant contact them which is poor.
Wish I never sold my servers and clients, dont seem to be able to find a good host which provides a reliable service which is a shame.

Your site and Hosting Puppy's homepage seem fine to me.

Seems to be more and more common for people to post here if they have a minute or two of downtime, without asking their host about it..

If your account is on the same server as theirs, ask to be moved to another server. If it is DDoS, then the whole network can be stalled.

If you move to another server, if your server goes down, you can still contact them, and if theirs goes down, then at least your sites aren't affected.

    Just checked the uptime stats:
14 outages, one of which was for 4-5 hours, and those are the ones its picked up.
    Outages last 5-10 minutes.
Hopefully someone from hostingpuppy will be along with an explanation.

I hope that it's not that DDOS-issue again for HostingPuppy

I'm mystified why you would post here and ask what we're "playing at". On our website contact page is a voice number, a fax number, an info email address, customer forums and - as a current customer - you have access to our support system. With 5 ways to contact us directly, your choice to post here seems more like an intent to publicize your bad experience with us than a legitimate request for information. I have no problem with that - such is the nature of our business - but let's call a spade a space, shall we?

Onto the issue. There's no doubt that we have been having a rough time of it this month. There is also no doubt that we've been more than up front about it. Whenever we had significant downtime we notified our customers via the means indicated in your welcome letter.

Posts on our forums indicating downtime and the reasons for it:

    http://hostingpuppy.com/forum/index.php?topic=38.0
    http://hostingpuppy.com/forum/index.php?topic=39.0

And when the server hosting our forums were hit, we posted here on WHT:

Granted posting in the outages forum on WHT isn't indicated in our welcome letter, but it seemed the next best place when our own forums where down.

Throughout these problems we have received massive support from our data centre. The techs there have worked for long hours to mitigate the attacks we've been under and at one point Ryan (the author of the APF firewall) was called in to implement custom measures. I honestly don't know what more could have been done than that.

Our money back guarantee runs for the first 14 days of your time with us. However, in your case, I am willing to extend that I will completely refund your money right now. Just open a support ticket and ask, and we'll refund you and you can be on your way.

I was not aware that you had a forum, I like to open tickets in order to resolve an issue. Plus I was unable to access your site during an outage so unable to contact you any other way apart from this forum.

This is the first time in 6 years I have publicized an issue with a host. I gave it quite a bit of thought before posting as I know it can be an annoyance.

I'm tempted with your refund offer but I could do without moving yet again or at least until I find a reliable host. I tried to gather a few more details but your site was down so gave up!

It seems to be back online and I'm receiving emails again. Could it be a network connection issue?
Whatever it is, its very frustrating.

Update: I am reluctant to post any sort of an update here because I think that will encourage people to use WHT as a support forum rather than the designated ways in our welcome letter. However, I realize that most people will see silence on the issue as a Bad Thing(tm).

We are most definitely having troubles again tonight. It seems to surround MySQL, but not sure yet. I won't be posting about this issue again here. I will post in our forums when things are settled.
