The Host Gator rep clearly states why "Lesley" has to pay the $4.01

If "Lesley" did not read the terms correctly then that is hardly Host Gators fault.

Also who exactly are you? Lesley? or Joshua as your sig line states?

Would you expect a dedicated server to be 1 cent for the first month? I don't think so. If you get the baby package, there are no setup fees. And the first month will be 1 cent, this is common sense you know... Does it even specify which package will be 1 cent?

Yes but considering there is suppose to be no setup on any of the packages as per the "Free / Instant Setup" listed under the package.

Perhaps you should have clicked on the little ? next to where it says that then, and I quote:

All accounts have FREE setup, and will be created automatically in 15 minutes or less. The only plan that has any setup fee whatsoever is if you select the monthly billing cycle on the Hatchling plan. Every other plan has $0 set up whether you choose to pay montly or three years in advance.

Looks like the issue has been resolved. Everybody makes mistakes, and it looks like the OP has realized his. We could all benefit from a little closer reading sometimes.
