Lightbulb The new eeepc from asus -- this might change how I work!

So along comes this neat eeepc from asus, and I'm wondering if maybe I should rethink my strategy a bit for computers.

I currently have a single laptop that I use for both work and travel. I chose to use ONE machine, because it's so much work to keep everything synchronized betweens machines. In fact, I don't know if it's even possible. The settings/options for all my software applications are all highly customized, etc.

As far as I know, you can't just "copy over" the harddrive from one computer to another, since there would be a nightmare of driver compatibility issues, etc...

Now that I'm seeing these eeepc machines, I'm wondering if I should revisit my thinking. Maybe I should look at getting one of these little machines for travelling, since they are so small/light/cheap.

But... how can I keep things synchronized between the two machines? (Specifically, all the customized settings/options I have for my software?)

What I would like to have is the ability to "copy over" my main computer stuff to the eeepc laptop, including software applications, applications settings, email, etc.. So using either computer would be exactly the same except for the hardware.

    Any ideas or thoughts?

run everything off a usb stick with a loader.

Might want to wait on the Eeepc with the larger screen.

Just adopt "cloud computing" techniques -- store your documents online. You won't have to worry about synchronizing between computers. There are also no risks of hard-drive crashes.

Online storage is a really good idea, i suggest AOL X-drive, its works for me really well.
