    Selling Web Hosting On Ebay

I plan on renting dedicated servers to resell the hosting on Ebay. Maybe I will rent my servers from Godaddy.com. With so much competition, how do you think I can set myself apart and still make a profit?

Ebay is bad for the hosting market becuase the customers do not know much about the industry and fall for the "unlimited" scams. My advice is to stay away from ebay with anything that has to do with hosting

Look for another place to sell hosting. eBay is full of newbies that sell under cost price to grow, thinking that 'later we will do profit'...

Sell with a profit from the 1rst day. That will ensure that you stay on business.

ComfortHost.NET. Top quality hosting. And a personal touch.

I don't think nsm2i's comment really applies because dedicated servers are much different than reseller hosting.

As for what you should to do set yourself apart, well, that's really want defines you as a business. That's not something you should really be asking others because that's something that is unique to a business and decides how that business will do.

Think of something you wish your dedicated server providers would give you, and if it is possible to provide that, then do it.

Virtually all of the web hosting plans sold on eBay are vastly oversold plans offering 'unlimited' disk space and bandwidth for 10 cents a year. Trying to gain clients through eBay is not going to be a very successful venture.

In my opinion, hosts that sell on Ebay are generally kiddie hosts that oversell their services badly. Hosts that sell on Ebay usually get a bad name. I wouldn't advise it!

You surely can do serious business as well! You dont have to succumb cause someone sells unlimited stuff for $2/month!

Do we have to shut down our business if someone sells 100GB disk space and 1000GB bandwidth for $5/month? Ofcourse NOT!

Also he is going to sell dedicated servers. Whats wrong in trying?

You are not going to build up a rep, image or a brand

You will look like a kid trying to get some extra pocket money

A steady webmaster is not going to buy hosting that way so you are going to get useless clients, thats if you get any

I wouldnt take that road mate.......

I don't see anything wrong with it. Obviously, the success depends on the market you're targeting and how many actually search ebay for web hosting.
    But hey, why not?

Since the buyers are not aware of the hosting industry you will be spending more money in the long run in terms of providing support to them.

    Keep away from eBay!
