    mtr result help. (result attached)

    Hello,

I have a new dedicated server in England..

I did run the mtr tool and attached the result as a screenshot here..

I did run the mtr first to my server in Germany, and see the way.. And did an mtr to the last IP in the same network (in England).

Could you interpret please the result?

I thing the worst trace time "4772.0 ms" is tooo much "in the same network"?

Am I wrong? (Or how to interpret this result?)

    Please look at the attachment..

    Thank you..

You are pinging a router. A router does not handle ping replies at high priority. It is perfectly fine for a router to have high ping times, or even have packetloss That says nothing about the traffic going through that router.

So nothing wrong with that MTR...

    Ok,
you mean the important thing is the ping/trace time to the "end IP"?

Yes, that will give a more dependable result. The only time that you need to worry is when the current-ping value at a certain hop jups up a lot, and keeps up for the following hops (&endpoint) as well. One hop having high ping response times is not a problem
