    Good Multivitamins for Men?

I've been taking multivitamins off and on, to try to supplement my surely-bad diet.

The problem is that right now I'm taking GNC's Solotron. It's loaded with most everything I should be getting, but the pill is enormous (I can feel the lump in my throat as I swallow it... *shudders*), and the smell/taste is nauseating. The latter keeps me from cutting the pill up and taking it in a few pieces.

If it makes any difference, I'm a 22 year-old male. What other options are out there?

Emergen-C makes many formulas using the best delivery method, not a pill that you simply urinate away

How come your diet is so bad? My diet is very bad also, but I've been trying to change my diet rather than using pills to supplement it.

If you're 22 and taking these things I think you need to consult a medical specialist as soon as possible before your body starts deteriorating. A good balanced diet normally negates the need for this stuff.

Take a couple of chewable Flintstone vitamins. If you compare the vitamins, they contain much the same nutrients.

Any multi-vitamin that you'll find in a GNC/vitamin shoppe will do just fine. Find something that you can take once a day, and make sure its WITHOUT iron in it. It doesn't have to be a huge pill to give you all the vitamins that you'll need. Besides, bigger isn't always better

Why without iron? I know women should take an iron enhanced multivitamin.

You can overdose on water. That's not a valid point.

Iron is fine for women, because they lose blood through...erm, menstruation every month. Mens blood cycle through their system until they lose it some how, and generally we get enough Iron from meat for our bodies. Only so much iron is good for you, and if you don't get it out of your blood it will just build up and you can get poisoned from it and get very, very, sick.

I personally take the OneADay All Day Energy vitamin, has all the vitamins plus boosts of energy and good old guarana. I'm a bit of an energy freak though, so that's probably what enticed me to buy it :p.

I'm taking the Centrum multi-vitamin and it works fine for me. I've been considering taking the Mega Men Vitamen from GNC since it contains a lot more nutrition and I workout pretty often but the thing that turns me down from taking it is that it makes your urine turn green when you pee out the nutritions.

Generic vitamins? If such a thing existed I wouldn't buy them. They probably wouldn't be certified and I wouldn't trust nutrition pills that aren't certified.

Yes, as someone else mentioned, a men's vitamins should be without iron because they do not need it, and a women's multi should contain iron in it. In addition, getting a multi formulated according to gender ensures that the different needs of men and women are met (men need selenium, women need folic acid, etc.). GNC makes some good multivitamins, but you can find other goof quality ones elsewhere for less. Pomology makes a good one, and they have a men's multi as well as a women's multi (I found this one online at seacoastvitamins.com for a good price).

just as a quick bootnote, you may need iron if your diet is light in it, such as if you are a non / light meat eater.

I advocate eating a variety of healthy foods and trying to avoid vitamins. Just IMO.

"Men One a Day" from Bayer - small multivitamin pill and almost no smell. I have no idea if it works but blood work I did for my yearly medical exam came out perfect (other then increased cholesterol).

I'm on GNC's Mega Men's Dietary Supplement. Take it twice a day, and I still have prescribed amounts of various other vitamins to keep my body running.
