Is There A Way To....

Hi,

Is there a way to only allow certain IP's to be able to login to WHM?

I know there's a way for Shell Access, but was wondering about WHM as well?

Thanks

Yes,

As many hosts do all you have to do is install the csf firewall on your server via ssh.

Simple to do just follow the instructions:
http://www.configserver.com/cp/csf.html

And then from WHM select the csf option on the left and from there you can choose to let only certain allowed ip's open certain ports (2082 for cpanel) on the server.

Hope this helps.

Yeah I've been looking into this, however, some have told me that the drawback of this is, your own IP changes everytime you turn off your computer, so you can possibly get locked out of your own server.

What's your feedback on that NedoMedia or anyone else?

Nah bro, firstly don't block port 2086 which is whm and youll always have access.

Secondly with common internet access (dsl & cable) ip address update every 3-4 weeks. So they dont change, and the blocks never change so this week my ip address might be 192.160.80.65 and next month it would be 192.160.82.31, so in the firswall you can add 192.160.* and it would accept any submissions from that user.

Thanks again
