    3d design software

I am about to embark on creating a logo. The design I have in mind is simple, but 3-dimensional. Can someone please recommend software for this purpose? Windows or Linux freeware, trial or open-source preferred. Thank you.

Yep... and it just so happens to involve a certain member here... now so this doesn't turn into another heated discussion, I won't say another word on the matter...

You can have all the opinions about LCreator you want, however when it goes beyond that, and it becomes obvious that your opinions are really nothing more than trolling and flames about other members, we will have to ban those who participate in these activities. That said...

Justageek might want to contact CRego3D, as he dabbles in this.

Lightwave3D is my application of choice, however, it costs a pretty penny.

I personally really like Cinem4D, but like Lightwave it's a bit pricey (unless you have a student discount!). They have a trimed down version called GO which is only a couple hundred. For just a logo, though, that's probably overkill. Check out POV-Ray and get a frontend - do a search for the Internet Raytracing Competition to see what it can do - and it's FREE.

you probably better ff just hiring someone who uses 3D on a daily basis to create the logo for you, expecially if you never done 3D before .. it can take months or even years to really master a 3D App.
