    2-month Review of JaguarPC.com

After much thought (see this), we have subscribed to JaguarPC.com for our reseller hosting needs. We have about 6 domains hosted. All these are small domains with not much of traffic (less than a few hundred visitors per day).

The ratings are as given below:

    Reseller package: Partner Plus

    1. Order Processing: 7/10
The order processing was not very smooth. The first order didn't go through, and I had to re-order. Even on the second occassion, I had to communicate online several times to complete the order process. And it took a few days before the sites are up. The staff were co-operative and helpful during the entire order processing.

    2. Transfer of our existing websites: 8/10
Our 6 existing web sites were transferred by the staff to the new account without much difficulty. Thanks to the support staff.

    3. Customer support: 8/10
The cusomer support was quick. But, it seems that the support lacks depth, and we had to explain/demonstrate the problem at length.

    4. Reachability of the websites: 6/10.
For some odd reasons, we have difficulty reaching the websites from India. At times, we have difficulty reaching the websites even from domaintools.com, using ping/trace. Occasionally, we could not access our email from India. As we haven't faced reachability problem with any of other hosts, it is an area for improvement.

    5. Email spam: 9/10
There was almost no spam. But, remember that poor reachability of the website may have caused some loss of emails.

Overall, the service is satisfactory, but less than what was expected. Improvement is necessary in domain uptime/reachability issues, and setting up of new reseller accounts.

    Overall score: 8/10.

Any questions or clarifications are welcome.

Could this be due to the internet problems in the Middle East?

I was also thinking of the same thing as I have people from India who view my server each day. I think overall your pretty happy with Jaguarpc and i'm glad to see another happy client.

Well if a third party website couldn't ping the server, then it's not an issue with Internet connectivity in India.

You should use a proxy site to see if the server is really down or is it your ISP or some other place in between. A tracert can throw some more light.

This is also one of the good tools to check the server status.

In the past, I had similar problem of not being able to reach the server occassionally. It turned out to be missing A entries for my private nameservers. So check the DNS zone entries thru WHM (or whatever other control panel you have).

I think the problems are coming from both ends. There might be some issues with the host as you said there were issues with ordering too so I'm not surprised but you might also be experiencing that due to being out in the Middle East so your farther away from the servers.

Overall it sounds like you're reasonably happy. Perhaps time will result in the rough edges being smoothed out, be they really on JaguarPC's end or not. Keep us updated!

Sorry..that I was not in station during the past few days and could not respond to the posts (I was only answering important emails).
Jag-Nick: I am aware of the Middle East problem
The reachability problem is two fold:
    1. Internet connectivity problem through the ISP in India.
    2. The data center connectivity problem at the hosting side.

To rule out the former, we normally use a third party domain like domaintools.com as well as a proxy browser. While using domaintools.com it was observed a few times that the trace could go up to the data center (or close to the data center), and timeout.
At the same time, I would like to say that the problem was NOT prevalent, and only observed occasionally. Hence the scope for improvement.
By the way, we have received an email from JPC that they had diversified their name servers geographically for Reseller accounts. If the said problem was due to DNS resolution, then the geographical distribution of name servers would result in a better reachability.

minipro - We did use proxy servers to ensure that there was no ISP problem.

Rageki-John - The problems during ordering process were a bit turn-off, but they have good customer support.

ldcdc - Yes, we are reasonably happy with the service. And we look forward to improvements with respect to reseller hosting service.

I would keep the members updated from time to time.

    Thanks.
