    BOFH Reasons

    Have you ever had to deal with a BOFH when working in this industry? List the reasons you heard from these BOFHes

    One i've heard was:

    Somebody moved the routers across the room today so we had to disconnect the servers.

    OK, I'd always prefer to look a fool than be one, so,

    What is a BOFH ?

    I know what a BOF is, I'm one, but what [or who] is a BOFH ?

    One excuse I had when phoning up my old ISP to report a horrible download speed, think less than the speed on a 28.8K modem on an "upto" 8MB broadband connection, was "That is what BT has set the speed at so we are unable to do anything".

    I promptly canceled my year long contract, that I was 2 months into, and migrated to my current supplier and have not looked back. And yes I am getting a decent speed now, the 7.5MB I should be getting.

    There was this one dude who works at my ISP..
    I called them up saying: My internet has been down for 2 days straight, whats up with it?
    BOFH: Someone stole the cables..
    ME: What cables...
    BOFH: I don't know

    CRAP....BOFHs suck!!

    I was on the phone with Dell support for Latitude laptop (under warranty, broken HD, needed RMA); they told me it was "a problem with the RF modulator" and there's nothing Dell can do about it. I promptly hung up. Got someone a bit more... helpful on my second call.

    To this day i wonder how the heck they came up with that.
