mysql suddenly will not start


under the shell on a cpanel server I tried to restart mysql - and it won't restart

/etc/init.d/mysql start
Starting MySQL................................... ERROR!

Where do I even begin to try to fix this?

Hi

Have you looked at your /etc/my.cnf file

maybe a long shot, but can you see if there is a line under [mysqld] something like skip-bdb ?

if there isnt put one in there and try a restart.

if not, is there something in the /var/log/mysqld.log

aww, please check that your /var partition are not full.

try edit /etc/my.cnf , comment #base_dir and save it. Restart mysql.
