Yes, that is true as strange as it may seem. The Pringles cans work the best.

TechTV did a report on that a while back. You may be able to search their site for a write-up.

BTW: Nice job on the website.

Thanks, I am going to redo some of the stuff, but not bad for a 15 year old kid, i am now 16 though. Also do you know of a place to get templates for websites. I am looking for something good, but different.

    Thanks,

I do this with my local network at home.
I haven't done any IN DEPTH testing, but there is definately improvement.

Oh i see it's a computer thing, i thought it was for some sort of radio thing. I suppose my radio scanning expertise won't come in handy here.
I think the school is taking advantage of the students, this is year 2002 and it's not acceptable for schools to get students to make stuff instead of buying stuff.

Do you have to take the chips out of the can first?

    Maybe that's 802.11c.

yes it actually works but it's only useful for improving signal strength when you want to a point to point long distance runs. it won't work if you just want to boost signal for general use like roaming around a building.

One of our customers described, briefly, how he did this in our forum.

One of my friend's mom lives up the street from him, and she wanted internet, but didn't really want to pay $20 for a dial up that she would hardly use. He had cable modem, so we got a couple of the Linksys AP's (150's maybe? I can't remember), and a couple of Pringle's cans and a short trip into the attic is all it took. It was kinda fun building the yagi's.
