Software - Not H-Sphere
Our needs are as follows -
We do our DNS and Mail with RedHat Linux, while our Web Hosting is mainly done with Windows 2000. We do host some sites on Linux depending on the clients' needs. That determination is based on if they need ASP, PHP, mSQL, Mysql, etc.
We have 3 Levels of Hosting -
Level 1, which is Email hosting only, personal sites, and nonprofit sites.
Level 2, which is normal web hosting.
Level 3, which is Ecommerce hosting.
All levels of hosting comes with 5 POPs, unlimited aliases, and web reports.
For Ecommerce, we use both Intershop and Site Server. Miva is a possibility.
We do allow extra Emails at $5/mo each. Can this be tracked if they do add more?
We use Sendmail.
We use Dotster's Reseller program for domains.
Web Server - IIS (Win2k) or Apache (Linux).
FTP Server - Serv-U (Win2k).
Majordomo Mailing List Software (Linux, and management/web-based interface would be great).
We use Quickbooks for our accounting.
For DNS, it would typically have to be done through the Linux box, then name-based host headers through IIS.
Bandwidth varies with the hosting plans, but would need to be tracked and extra charges would apply if needed.
Logging and reporting of activity is vital.
Trying your software on our server is vital.
We will be getting Payflow Pro next month. We do have an SSL certificate.
We'd love to develop a reseller program.
As you can see, our system is spread out over 2 main servers, Linux and Windows 2000.
I thought H-Sphere would be good, until I found out they require us to buy 2 new servers because they can't install it on "live" servers.
Anyone? It's been very hard finding a good solution.
