Looking for shared hosting
My brother and I are looking for hosting primarily for my brother who is a video editor who is looking for a job (needs to host his work/videos). I'd say speed and reliability are most important. The video files will likely be pretty big (200-300mb), but it's not likely the website itself will be that extensive, mostly just the file hosting (although as we learn more it could change). I'm thinking around 5-10gb storage and 100gb transfer would fit us best, and I don't really want to spend more than $5-10 dollars a month.
So far Downtownhosting and Syn Hosting have caught my eye, I was curious as to if anyone had any other suggestions.
Thanks

if you just need file hosting, ASO offers some good plans.
What cp do you prefer?

The plans at ASO don't really seem to fit my need/budget (atleast the ones I'm looking at, maybe I'm in the wrong place). Really solid on the 5-10gb of storage and at least 100gb of transfer.
Consider me a web novice, I wouldn't say I have a control panel preference, although later on it could change as I learn more.

pay attention that you will need to pay at least 6 months once to fit your budget. Beside it, I have heard good things about Downtownhost too

You should have no problem getting those specs for how much you want to spend.
Best of luck to your brother finding a job. : O)

I don't think 100G of bandwidth is enough for your website, considering that the average size of your video files is 200-300mb. I'm sure there are lots of hosting plans that has more than 100G of bandwidth and which is only less than $10 a month.

DownTownHost uses many different datacenters/providers. I recommend you to ask them to provide speed test files from different servers so you can choose the better from your location.

$5 for all that disk space and bandwidth will be hard to come by. You might want to consider hosting the large video files with a third party file host and only pay a web host for the hosting of the website itself.

In a similar fashion, you can always get a reliable non-overselling plan for just your website and purchase a bulk overselling package at one of the reputable companies for your videos.

There won't be more than two files that would be that big, the rest being just smaller segments, I'm pretty sure 100gigs per month should be ok.

I'd have to ask him, I don't know what all he wants to share.
