    =(

on august 4th, I woke up, and my cable internet was not working. No big deal! ill just reset the modem, i'm sure it'll go back on.

    Didn't work

so then, I went to the front door, and what do i see outside!
a big branch that fell off a tree, and fell right on the cable lines!

(The lines that power my cable atleast)

    i was pissed =/
so i knew thats why my cable wasnt working

I called my isp telling them my cable is down, and the reason why is most likely because of the branch / broken lines

They said no problem, we will send someone out to fix it... Guess what they told me?

    AUGUST 14TH =(

I have to wait until august 14th just for them to come out and fix it

ive been on dial up since august 5th
its just a big nightmare lol

DIAL UP IS MY WORST NIGHTMARE

i hate it, but its all ihave.

    everything is soooo slow (((((

I try to play some games, 3000MS Pingggggggggg

    lol
    CHOKE and loss like crazy
    its terrible

i cant wait for my cable to be fixed =(

I called them up half way thru this and i started bitching, saying i want a free month, the guy told me that he could credit me for the down days.....??

    blah
i just don't know how to get them to give me a free month
all my friends keep saying "Dude, get them to give you a free month"

    LOL

anyone have any ideas as to what i could say ?

    Wine wine wine.

You should've been in Kansas City this winter when we had our big storm. I wish I wouldn't have deleted all my pictures.

    Trees were ALL OVER.

We were without power for 10 (I kid you not, some people went longer) days. I ended up doing a couple over-nighters at CT.

After we got power back, it took another 13 to get the cable company out to our house.

Let's just say I was more than happy to hold their ladders while they hooked it back up.

the EXACT same thing happened to me! One day i walked outside and I was getting into my car and all of a sudden there was a big cracking sound. I Turn around and see a huge chunk of this HUGE tree break off and knock over an entire telephone poll. Lucky it blocked off the road which happens to be Route 2A here in MA. So they had to get their asses down there quite to fix it. Only lost cable/tele for a day and a half AND I GOT A MONTH FREE for the inconvience!!!!! i had to bitch at RCN for about 5 times.....just remember the customer is always right and if you bitch enough they will always give you what you want. [This only works for big companies]

Dude thats how it goes.. Here is my story

Order cable modem and ask if I can cancel netzero because cable modem should be setup within 1/2 hour of install they say oh yeah!

Cable guy leaves wait 20 mins cable modem does not work..

just to make a long story short I spent 7 days and over 25 calls to support which ALL were 45 mins or more, they end up telling me in 3 days a tech will come out and fix..

wait 3 days its 3 o'clock and cable tech is still not here.. call phone company they say "oh sorry we fixed the problem from this end sorry we did not call to tell you"

i explain to them i cancelled netzero because they promised it would work and told them i work from home to i HAVE to have a connection and that I have been driving to bestbuy for 10 days to check my email every 6 hours from there connection there and that I work from home and blah blah blah.. what do they offer me.. 10 fu**ing days credit.. after i spoke to a manager and got absolutely NOWHERE still only 10 days credit refuse to give me a free month..

you know why they do it,.. because we need them and they know if I dont stick it out with them I will be sitting at 56k like poor clocker waiting 35 seconds for yahoo to load and gritting me teeth.. tell you what thoughas soon as someone else comes in the neighborhood i am cancelling thats such BS..

anyway thats my rant.. if you can save yourself dont use AT&T cable connect because they truely suck..

    Rogers, or Cogeco?

I had a problem with Rogers, and yelled at them enough that they not only gave me 2 months of free Cable modem service, but they even gave me a free month of Cable TV free.

The key is to ask for a Supervisor, and keep on asking for the next supervisor up until you get what you think you deserve. It took me 6 supervisors, and 3 hours on the phone to get my refund.

A bit off topic here but we got Telewest to fit cable TV in and these two guys came out and i bet they where no older than 25 and they where like "ohhh ahhhh bloody hell" you know just moaning. There was no probs with getting a guy from telwest to fit a telephone line put in for the net but see the problem is that my house has 3 levels so 2 sets of stairs so it's a bit harder to get stuff fitted in the house but the guys that moaned where just ******** and the guys are coming to fit the broadband in soon so no doubt they will moan to since they will have to fit it at the top of my house but anyway that's there job and if they don't shut up this time i'll be complaining..
Hmmmmmmm Hmmmmmmmmm Hmmmm he was like "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhh" Hmmmmmmm maybe he was having it off with my mum.HU HU HU HU did you hear that guys yep.

We once had a tree fall over and land(actually it was the top, that got stuck, and stayed suspended in the air) on the power lines. The power company came out late one night CUT the limbs of the tree top, and routed power around our house. We had to complain for several days, before they would get the tree top off the lines.

You have to be reasonable but firm. It's okay to somewhat raise your voice, but don't swear at them. I got warned a few times about that, and they said they'd just hang up if I kept swearing. Basically I just said "I'm not hanging up until I get my refund, so if you can't give it to me, pass me to someone who can". Be patient

My old cable company told my husband 10 days to fix.. he set up the appointment and all that..

I got home said WHAT???? (Enter few bad words here)
I told him "Give me that phone"... Called them up told them if they were not out by the end of the week (it was wednesday) that I would no longer be using their service. They expressed to me how it just was not possible for them to be out that soon. I said "Well disconnect me now! and don't bother billing me this month either".... (it was like the 5th or something)..

She got to the Uh, oh, uh, hmm, uh... And said "Ma'am are you sure".. I said: "I don't pay for what I don't have.. You wanna charge me that's fine, you want to fix it in 10 days thats fine.. I wanna cancel YOUR service, and you can send this months bill to your collection agency.. I WONT PAY..."
She said well let me see what I can do..
The next day before I returned from work (3:30pm) the cable was fixed...

Don't let people walk on you.. If they say they don't have the man power.. You tell them you want their men denied lunch breaks until its fixed! .. I just don't put up with it.. What happens if your a day late with the monthly bill???? Do they call? Do they threaten disconnection? HELLO! Of course they do... So fight back..They wanna get nasty, get "naggy" (as my husband puts it).. With them...

My two cents... Hope it helps..

    Clocker:
Right when you dial, and they say "hello, this is blah blah, how may I help you"...
You say: I need a supervisor...
    You get put on hold..
Supervisor.. :You explain problem, calmly, be nice...
He/she says "well that is our policy, blah blah, nag nag, I am going to get you off the phone.....
You say:.. Well I wanna talk to your supervisor...
    They put you on hold....
(If they don't have another supervisor.. GET HARD NOW)
You get another supervisor... You explain what happened etc.. What the last guy/gal told you, and that you are not going to settle for what they said... Etc..
Let this supervisor do the "I will get you off the phone thing"..
    THEN.....
Another supervisor... You say.. This is 3 people I have talked to who are suppose to be in charge or know whats going on.. I wanna know why this isnt being handled (the certain way).. I wanna know .. Get nasty.. Mean... angry.... (Dont curse they like that).. lol...

Then when you say something like.. (Well most ISP take offense to threatening to switch to AOL.. so for ISP's use that) (use the companys compitition..) IE: Your talking AT&T phone.. Threaten to switch to sprint .. Always state.. WELL I TALKED TO... IE sprint and they are offering me this just to sign up!!!! (This being your free month etc)...

Works everytime.. (Can you tell I used to work in customer service?)...

    Hope that helps..

    lol
Time: We get things done thou... Don't we? I amaze my husband sometimes.. He gets on the phone with these people and hes all like "Wellll.... you know... uh, yeah I understand..." Almost like talking to techsupport!

I get on the phone and state what I want, when I want it.. if they cant offer it.. Screw them... Thats whats wrong with some people... They let these companies walk all over them.. Sure they want their money YESTERDAY.. but they aren't willing to help tell tomorrow.. (or 14 days later)...

No way... You pay for service, you are a customer.. YOU have the right to stand up and get the attention you need... The reason YOUR waiting 14 days is because 14 people ahead of you just got their way!!!!! (Or the man/woman with the big bucks depending on the situation).... Dont be the 14th person.. be the 1st...

Hehehe reminds of the time many years ago I moved to Waco Texas ordered phone service, they told me they could not get it connected for 2 months no free lines in the area.

I rasied hell kept getting the next supervisor then the next and so on. Got to the end of the line still no phone for 2 months.
I got really pissed called the office of the CEO of South Western Bell, talked to his secretary explained the problem, she put me on hold, after about 5 minutes the President of SWB picks up the phone I explain it all to him. He was real nice told me I would have phone service by the end of the week. Next morning I get up look out the window and there are at least 20 SWB trucks all over the place.

    2 days later I had a phone.

    Timing was right.

Back then it was all still a monoply and Texas has a commision of Public Utilities that sets the rates for what they can charge. They were in the middle of trying to get a rate hike, the PUC was raking them over the coals for bad service and dragging up all these stories of people getting screwed over by them, they were trying to convience the PUC that they had solved all their service issues. I don't think they wanted another issue, so when I said the magic words Texas Public Utilites Commision I think they saw the light.
