$100,000,000 in stolen goods from grocery stores

POLK COUNTY, Fla. -- About 20 people were arrested in connection with what may be Florida's largest theft ring blamed for stealing up to $100 million worth of products from the state's most popular stores, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Holy crap.

"We would find that the thieves would work in pairs," Judd said. "They would go into a store and in less than three minutes could walk out with as much as $4,000 or $4,500 worth of merchandise."

Wow. I am trying to imagine how someone could cram that amount of product into their coat without being detected.

Hey Vito

Maybe Wal-Mart should hire bouncers as greeters instead of these old ladies.

No kidding. The greeters look like they're on their last breath of life (I'm almost afraid to ask which way to Hardware). One day, I won't be surprised to see one of them carried out on a stretcher by the time I check out.

I cant seem to understand the BMW crash article, what do they mean by runway? They were driving on a elevated road cut off at the end or what?

I know up here a lot of people get away with stealing stuff because they carry a basket between their legs under their skirt and just shove stuff into it.

That's ridiculous. You can't take up $2000 worth of product and walk out the door with them unnoticed unless it was 100 cell phones or 4 PS game box.

In Florida, there are some upper-class gated-communities that are built around small airstrips designed for single-engine planes. I believe this was one of them. Usually they have this big runway in the middle and multi-million dollar houses surrounding with hangars were the rich inhabitants store their airplanes.

I'm not sure if those kids lived in that community, but they probably did as those type of places are manned and gated and it's somewhat difficult to get in there unless your supposed to be there.

Sad story, nonetheless.
