I would not be happy with 8 hours downtime.... It's not normal
Get a good provider. I can recommend http://www.eservers.biz for servers hosted in the US - Great people - Greatly connected - Great service, they wouldn't let you down - Contact them
Good Luck

No luck here.
I requested a refund based on the fact that I've only been a customer since Tuesday and my server was inaccessible until Wednesday (setup) was then down Friday (router problems) was up Saturday but then was back down Sunday (PP&L problems). My response?
"A single phase is out on one of our five electrical feeds...the newest one.
Two of the three phases in the system are functioning, so it is a rather odd circumstance. The problem is on the power company's side, between their transformer and entry to our facility. This is affecting about 10% of our clients only. PPL (power company) and our electrical technicians are currently working on the issue, and they tell us it will be resolved shortly. "
I guess that means no.

Ok, there was a 8 hour downtime. This is not good but can happen on a serious issue. If you were happy with them before then I don't see a reason to leave... just my 10 EuroCents

What possible excuse can they give?!!!
Can you tell me one yourself?
Any server that has a downtime of 5 hours is not worth staying!
That is my personal opinion!
(My server just went down for 10 hours 2 days ago so now I'm leaving)

Our Burst server fortunately wasnt affected by the power problem, but needless to say, Burst isn't on the list of possible providers for the new server we're getting this weekJay » jay@frontdrive.com AIM » FDrive Support

I don't understand why they couldn't have manually moved to backup power?
A few extension leads hanging around the place could have saved a bit of drama
