Being a reseller in Singapore?

I'm interested in opening a web hosting site in the future. I reside in Singapore and my question is:

Is it necessary to purchase a reseller account from a Singapore web hosting company? I plan to purchase a reseller account from another country that is not in Singapore. For example US or UK, as the plans are cheaper.

Also, when is it time to know if I should change to a dedi server? Perhaps when I reach at least 30 customers?

All advice will be appreciated.
Thank you.

It depends on who is your target customers. If you just plan to host clients in Singapore, it would better to have your account/server locating in Singapore.
When your reseller account is fully used, you should consider changing to VPS or dedicated server.

Also, a reseller purchased from the US are generally cheaper compared to SG as the cost of bandwidth is cheaper in the US than in SG.

I don't think there is a set number of clients that will determine when you should move from reseller to a VPS or even a dedicated. What determine this should be the kind of site(s) you will be hosting. If all of your clients are just small time bloggers, you may perhaps be able to host even more than 30 clients without any worries but if you had a business client like WHT then you will definitely require more than just a reseller account.

Good luck with your venture
