LF: Co-location provider
I am looking for a co-location provider near New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Quebec. If anyone knows of a firm that will host my server(s), please let me know!
I also would like to ask a question. I have never done the co-location thing. Would it be worth sending my server hundreds of miles away? Or even overseas? I read this article hxxp://webdesign.about.com/od/colocation/a/aa010305.htm (replace XX with tt) and it seems you should keep your server within driving distance for disaster recovery reasons.

I've never had a need for anything in that area, so wouldn't know. However - I'm thinking there would be decent offerings in Toronto, Chicago or even New York that would still be close to you for latency, and probably dramatically cheaper. Some DCs will offer remote hands for your colo equipment, inquire to pricing.

Your best bet is Montreal or Boston. Talk to Stephane Cote at CANIX in Montreal. Hit me on PM if you want me to dig up some locations in Boston.

To answer you second question:

I would not recommend colocating your equipment outside of 2 hours driving distance. That would be a huge inconvenience should you need to access your equipment in an emergency. Because as we all know, " Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong and at the worst possible time".

Traft00 totally true, it is always during the worst time...
In terms of iWeb, The prices they have for their colo is amazing.
So if you are near Montreal, based on price I would recommend them.
I have never been with them though, so I couldnt tell you how good/bad their service is.

Unless you have specialized hardware needs, you may be better off with a dedicated server. That way you don't need to put up the cost of a server upfront, or worry about fixing the hardware should there be a problem, as that would be the provider's responsibility.
I would still recommend going with the nearest Internet hub though, for better routing, which basically means Montreal. Halifax is the only city in Atlantic Canada with any real options, but doesn't have much and is very expensive. Any traffic to Boston will be going through Montreal or Toronto anyway.
