Looking for a REAL hosting company who offers Cpanel

I've been looking all over and the only company I can find is BlueHost. I want to find a host that is legitimate but also doesn't require you to pay a setup fee. I like the way Godaddy.com doesn't charge you everything upfront but would really like to move elsewhere.

What kind of space are you looking for, bandwidth, what sites/material do you want to host?

There are a million webhosts out there, some excellent and some you should stay away from. 'Search' is your friend here and so are the reviews people right.

Hmm, google returns 971,277 results and you can only find one

Setup fees are really only charged on shared hosting where the host doesnt expect you to stay very long.

If you post your requirements in terms of needed features, then people can recommend solutions for you.

    Cool

Very few hosts charge set up fees and cPanel or versions of it are very common. It's the most common control panel, and I can't remember seeing set up fees on a standard hosting account in ages.

    gregdavidson,

Take a look at the WHT offer section or click the 'Find a Host' on top of WHT to find a lot more hosts.

    Good luck in your search.

I'm looking for a TRUE hosting company. The problem with the internet is that anyone can play it off that they're a real hosting company with the right website design.

Search the forums buddy Look into the WHT Offer's section and host showcase. You will find alot of "real" hosting providers here with great reviews before you purchase your hosting plan. About 80% of hosts now maby even more does not charge you a setup fee.

As others have said, you'll find plenty of hosting companies that offer CPanel with no set up fees. What is your definition of a TRUE hosting company?

    greg,

by 'true hosting company' do you mean a host that would be considered, comparatively, a large company?

off the top of my head i can think of at least 20 small(er) hosts with reputations, service and support that put bluehost to shame.

this is an industry where the small business owner, in many ways, holds a distinct advantage over the 'giants'.

if this is the case and is, evidently, part of your criteria in choosing a host.. you may just be setting yourself up for a lot of frustration as a result of unreliable service and poor support.

    Gregdavidson,

Ask them proof, a real hosting company is written into a register of i.e. the chamber of commerce, i do not know if this the case in every country but here in the Netherlands you have too, also a real European company would be able to provide you with their TAX number.

    Hope this helps.

The trouble is that there are many hosting companies out there that are what you might call "real" although I've found in the past that if you want the real deal then it comes at a price. It's a bit like this, go for Reebock or Puma? They both do exactly the same job but one is a high ranking brand and so you pay more for it, I believe the same is true with hosting providers.

Look for a company that's been in business years (check their website on The Way Back Machine at www.archive.org). Look for ones that list addresses and phone numbers. Better yet, search Google about them and look for real client reviews.

I know what you're getting at with plenty of fly-by-night hosting companies out there that you want to avoid, but there's still a lot of established hosting companies in the marketplace today.

    Cool

By real host if you mean not a reseller or such and have been in business a good while with good customer satisfaction visit some hosts, run them on DNS Stuff and then e-mail or call their support and ask whatever questions you want the answers to that would indicate they are what's worth your time checking into.

Legitimate hosts don't mind answering questions and proving they have whatever it is you are looking for.

check hostgator , hostmonster or godaddy they r good and providing cpane some of them have to pay extra may be m not sure

  20. #20
You don't always get what you pay for, many larger hosts believe because they are better they can charge more, when actually a smaller host's admin may be more dedicated than a larger host's support team. Just something to bear in mind.

By real web hosts i guess the OP means companies which have been there from few years and actually provide services the way they advertise. You can find real web host by only doing some research, looking for reviews by customers and asking them questions.

You'll find a list of REAL web hosting companies here... all have been in business for more than 5 years.

And none of them are Bluehost, LOL.

Those are host with more than 5 years in the market without a single negative review about them. I don't think that are going to be many more to add.

There are enough hosts around which do not mainly market the US and never or just recently came to this board, does that make them worse as those on the list?

I mean its great to have a guide but please do not pretend those are the only hosts giving a great service please.

I've never heard of hosts charging setup fee's for hosting accounts.

The thing is you never know if a host will be good or bad until you try them yourself. I mean everyone needs are different. Do you have any other ones in mind?

Exactly. There are also some companies that have been around for quite a while (longer than 5 years) who are well respected, honest and successful who don't have 100% positive reviews and others who have very few if any reviews. There are also REAL web hosting companies with a happy customer base who don't even know WHT exists or customers that are too busy running their businesses to post reviews of their hosting company online. No company is going to be flawless 100% of the time. I guarantee you everyone on that list has had a customer who at one time or another was not happy about something with their service, whether the host was to blame or not, and they may simply have not taken the time to post a review.

That list is for host with more than 5 years in the market without a single negative review, I'm not saying anything else that that, I don't understand what are you pretending to say with the other part nor I care.

As an 11 year veteran of this IT industry, and owner of a REAL hosting and IT services company, I am amazed at how much "time some clients will "spend" looking to avoid a 5 to 15 dollar set up fee. That is time that they could spend making an extra sale or taking better care of their current clients. Or improving their own services.

The bottom line is that the company providing the service has to MAKE A PROFIT. Especially for REAL hosting companies. Who have REAL employees and REAL infrastructure to support.
