    * Which of the following 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor should I get?

    Hello Guys!

Been using a Normal 17" LCD from LG for about a year now. I feel like getting a 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor for myself.

However, am confused between the following models:
    1. Samsung 920NW
    2. LG L194WS
I would appreciate your help to decide on which model to buy.

    Thanks in Advance.

I'd go with hte Samsung, as the panel quality is better than that of the LG.

    Contrast Ratio : 700:1 , 5000:1(DFC)

    Viewing Angle(Horizontal/Vertical) : 160˚/160˚ , 170 / 170

    Power Consumption : 42 Watt (Max) , 34 W

LG (in blue) certainly seems to be the better choice in certain factors. I think the most important being Contrast ratio.

RajanUrs, 5000:1(DFC) is no where near the actual contrast ratio.

I don't know a whole lot about the technical specs of monitors, but Samsungs have always been wonderful for me. The build quality is great.

Samsung makes some of the best.

Speaking of which, what's a comparable Samsung to Dell's Ultrasharp widescreens? (19" ones)

I think you'll be satisfied with the Samsung. They make quality products.

Regarding the Contrast ratio i feel LG is measuring it in some different terms hence the DFC suffix. I don't think there can be so much difference between 2 competing products.

May be it's like Sound Wattage in Speakers PMPO and RMS.

Viewing angle yes, LG seems to be better as well as with power consumption.

I have do abit of research myself when shopping for lcd monitor last year. I settle with a 22 inch lcd from LG. LG22 WTQ . Average price and impressive contrast ratio (5000:1) .

I dont know if both contrast ratios are measured in the same way.

DFC is a proprietory technology of LG and they claim their monitors with DFC has much higher contrast ratio.

edit: DFC stands for Digital Fine Contrast

Ok got more info on Samsung's proprietory technology on contrast ratios. It is called Dynamic Contrast (DC) ratio. A ratio of 700:1 with Dynamic Contrast is 2000:1(DC)

The model 920NW selected by op doesnt have Dynamic Contrast technology.

    Hmmm...

Is it possible for a technologically superior product to be priced lower?

In this case Samsung is around $20 more costly than LG.

Also, Samsung provides 3 years on site warranty and LG does not.

    Hello Guys!

The Dealer just called me and told that there is another Samsung 19" Model called Samsung 932NW

It's bit on the Higher side and it has that DC Contrast thingy which RajanUrs mentioned.

Now, which Samsung model 932NW or 920NW do I get?

    Go for the 932NW.

In addition to having Dynamic Contrast (DC) the Power consumption of 932NW is 34 Watts [920NW is 42Watts]

    Price comparison: Rs.10000 for 920NW and Rs10650 for 932NW

well personally i dont like either of the two listed. ive always used viewsonics since man made the pc.

i currently have a VA1912WB. actually, several of them together, and i would be completely lost without them. Bright colors, great contrast. I play fligh sim x, and these monitors are STELLAR for the game. just my two halfcents

Samsung doesn't sell that model where I live so that's out of question.

eh its ok, like i said ive used them for years, and ive NEVER had one fail. as a matter of fact, my parents are both using the 15" lcd's i had many moons ago when lcd's were first hitting the market. still using them today with no dead pixels. but good luck in your search! hope you find one.
