    Cisco PIX 501 Help

I just got a Cisco PIX 501 from my IT Guy for home use and he didn't reset the firewall to default settings so there are ton of old commands in here.

Is there a command I can use to reset the firewall back to the factory default settings?

Or is there anyway I can flash it back to factory default settings?

    Try "configure factor-default"
I think the server saw what was required of it and just committed suicide instead.

if you know the login and enable passwords, type write erase followed by reload from the enable prompt. that will remove the current config and restore to defaults.

You will need the enable password for both these approaches

If you don't have it, you'll need to flash the pix. A good howto for this can be found here http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/110/34.shtml

Once done, 'en' up and configure factory-default, write mem. Done

    Cheers
