Cpanel designing. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?
I'm interested in changing my cpanel design. I've seen custom designs for sell on this forum via the Design Offers section but was never able to understand exactly how to do it myself. Does anyone know of some type of tutorial or have any advice for doing this? I'm new to this, take it easy on me. Thanks WHT'ers

Depends on what you wish to do. Generally, if it's something that can be done via the branding editor (such as editing CSS, header/footers etc.), I'd recommend using that. This ensures that any updates that occur for the X3 theme are inherited by your custom style.
Theming should be reserved for when you need to do something the branding editor does not yet support. Typically, I recommend simply copying the X3 theme in /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x3 and tweaking it as you see fit. However, since the themes use API2 to call the cPanel source code indirectly, you may wish to become familiar with API2 to gain a full understanding of the theme code.
There's some documentation for API2 on our website at: http://www.cpanel.net/plugins/api2
Additionally, I explain it in more simplified language in my "Customizing cPanel" presentation from last year's conference. You can download this in PDF format from: http://www.cpanel.net/docs/seminar07...ing_cPanel.pdf
API2 is covered on slides 21 through 27. The branding editor does support API2 as well.David Grega

Thank you very much cPanelDavidG! That just about answered everything and thank you so much for the links and information. Yes, I was really just interested in redesigning the appearance. Not so much changing anything around other than the way it looks. The "banner/header" and icons, etc.
