My LxAdmin Server is not able to receive emails, due to faulty MX records, ( that is what i can think )

Here is snap shot of DNSSTUFF.com , where it shows error in mail settings -

    http://i10.tinypic.com/85kuiva.jpg

This is the domains DNS settings -

    __base__ A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    cp A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    mail A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    ns1 A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    ns2 A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    pop A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    www A - xx.xx.xx.xx

    ftp CN - __base__

    lists CN - mail

    webmail CN - mail

    mysite.com MX 10 mail

Kindly let me know, how can i make my email working ?

    The xs don't look right.

It seems that dnsstuff is saying that your A record for mail isn't resolving.

What do you mean by that ? Can someone give resolution to it in details ?

I believe that MX record is wrong. Try this way:

    mysite.com MX 10 mail.mysite.com

I was guessing what dnsstuff means by "Could not connect without glue or A record". You might ask the author of that DNS report what it means.

Can't be more specific without more specifics.

Apolo, it doesn't seem to me that he was posting results from his actual BIND zone file.

    Hi,

That's how LxAdmin's DNS interface looks like, and the MX record is definitely wrong.

    Hi,

DNSstuff.com caches the results. Try another tool like:

    http://www.checkdns.net/quickcheck.a...com&detailed=1

Obviously, replace "domain.com" by your own domain name.

If you mention the domain name, it would be a lot easier to help you, but either way I strongly suggest you to hire a professional sys admin for your VPS/server.

Assuming LXAdmin is just passing this to the zone file, the final full-stops are missing. Wherever "mysite.com" appears it should be "mysite.com."

    ie. you could use:
    Code:
    mysite.com. MX 10 mail
    or
    Code:
    mysite.com. MX 10 mail.mysite.com.
