to moderate or not to moderate

Why do post like this http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showth...threadid=65561 get closed anyway?

Nobody is forced to read useless threads so why close it. This can also imply that the other threads that are open are really interresting

There are other ways to lead a discussion and terminating one is not one of them.

Am I right? Am I right?

Yeah well when threads become so horridly OT and people start commenting on the people instead of the topic, she getsa' locked generally. Not all threads work out well, luckily most do...

But that thread was doomed from the beginning. At least it finally settled down into a topic and a direction.

Well, okay. Maybe it 'was' troll invaded.

    Back on to the subject of 'this' thread . . . . . . . . . Moderate!

Just looking at first and last pages, I can see why I have yet to see a topic in WHT that actually stays even remotely on topic. I think if the moderators had the time, there would be a lot more closed.

Alot of people do tend to drift off topic, but the thread is usually not closed unless it gets realllllllly off topic.
