'site is not reachable' several times a day [liquidweb]

    Hello guys,

I have a dedicated server running in Liquidweb. I'm quite happy with the plan and support.

However I'm seeing issues where the site is down sometimes - several times a day I see that the site is not reachable (firefox not reaching the server... etc.). After a second I try again - and it's up.

Anyone seeing this too in Liquidweb? Their support is helpful, but they can't figure out what's wrong. I don't know what to do - before I move hosting, any ideas how I can check this? any advice will be welcome ;-)

I suggest you to place the server under a third-party distributed monitoring company to confirm the issue. Could be something to do with the name servers you are using to resolv the domain.

    Hi Ron,
Thank you for being a liquidweb customer. The connectivity problem that you are referring to which was referenced in tickets 883338 and 889859, are outside of the liquidweb network and most likely are due to your personal Internet service provider. At the conclusion of ticket 883338 we asked for you to contact your ISP in order to investigate it further, we did not receive a follow up response. You then opened ticket 889859, unfortunately, since this is an intermittent network problem outside of the Liquid Web network, our ability to trouble shoot it is somewhat limited without your help. We really need to get in touch with your ISP in order to figure out what is wrong w/ their network. If you have any questions regarding this please follow up with the questions in ticket 889859 and we will get this taken care of for you. You may also email me directly. Take care

    Thanks guys

    Guys,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm most certain it's not a problem in my ISP (it happens to me in two different networks (different ISPs). Also it happens for people in other countries at all).

I will try the monitoring service. Thanks.

Besides the continuous monitoring service you may use these sites to do instant check server availability / connectivity from a bunch of locations next time you see the problem:

    http://host-tracker.com (http)

    http://lg.level3.net (ping/traceroute)
