Are you using any control panel, I think Helm & Hsphere have built in.

well, I would prefer a standalone billing package since I won't be using Helm/Plesk.

If you use a standalone program on your pc, your clients will not be able to directly signup for your services.

If this is not the case, then you can always install WHMCS on localhost! Simple

I think by standalone TARJr meant something that is not inbuilt into control panel.

You can just a get a normal PHP based billing system - those should run on Windows with a bit of tinkering here and there.

yes, I just want to be able to integrate the billing system in my website, not a control panel. It looks like AWBS would work....ooops, but it requires MySql...I prefer MS Sql...

Both AWBS and WHMCS work fine under Windows, and both use PHP and MySQL. You'll be hardpressed to find one that uses MSSQL that is a standalone billing package.

WHMCS is the easiest billing solution we've ever used. Highly recommended.

Platypus is a Windows-based billing system that uses MSSQL. It is geared more towards larger ISPs and web hosts, not startups who only want to spend $15/month on a billing system license. It was not built as a web-based system but they have web modules for signups and some basic functions

Modernbill had me ready to climb a tower and jump. The guy who developed it should be buried in a ditch and that ditch put on a barge for Antartica.

Are you guys talking about the new version of Modernbill? I used it and it was good. I didnt like the product setup, but otherwise I enjoyed using it.

What problems do you guys have with it?

I remember when WHMAP was the hottest item around. Nowadays, Kayako support software and WHMCS are the hottest toys to use.

Same, I don't like the look of Modernbill or the use of it. It isn't bad software, but I frown when using it.

I believe the post author was looking for something other than whmcs, I'm in the same boat especially after finding out whmcs may not be secure with their latest hack and rumors it's been nulled.

It's been many years since I used modernbill is it still bad? Any SECURED billing systems that one might recommend?

    Thanks
    John

I am currently using WHMCS and it is brilliant. I havent had any problems with it and it is really user friendly. I really do like this billing software compared to WHMAutopilot, i just found it too complicated. They offer 15 day free trials too

I would recommend doing a custom solution so you can always change it as your needs change.

I Use ClientExec, New software but I really like it! Takes care of all my support tickets, billing, signups, invoicing.

Only issue I have had with it is customizing, matching it to my website's theme, but they should be releasing a new version any minute now, which *should* make life a little easier.!

My experience with Modernbill was early on in our company. We had decided to go with Modernbill over WHMAP. About 1/3rd of our way through the move Modernbill behaved very unstable and ended up not being reliable enough for record keeping. The thing that synched it was we had spent a solid couple of months on getting the data preped and over to Modernbill. The automated tools in WHMCS did the same work in about 3 days. Saved us a ton in manhours.

I've attempted to use WHMCS I didn't get it at all. I didn't like the way the accounts would setup if I used paypal. Because the link was so small at the top. A freind of mine programmed a custom billing program. More freindly than WHMCS plus has free hosting setup with ad support so if they don't click ads or something for you. It will take bandwith/diskspace from their site or add another ad. I've personally used it.. And its good accept he doesn't have a site for it. I'll see if he will setup a sub domain with it on their so you all can test.

We have had great experience with Matt's group (WHMCS). If I could do again I still would do business with them.

I currently use ModernBill Version 4, it gets the job done. I hear MBv5 is much better but more complex. I am also considering all other options.

He is probably talking about my personal edition. I have created like 20 custom plugins and about 10 modules for it. =)

WHMCS is great billing software used ClientExec and WHMAutoPilot before all of which never gave me the "wow" factor that WHMCS did!
