I've only used to help a friend out... I use camtasia (http://www.techsmith.com), a paid product.

VirtualDub in Capture mode; gives you a ton of settings as well. Just make sure you have some encoder installed if you don't want to save the video in raw mode.

  5. just use linux, comes withloads of free applications, kino and audacity for example

For audio, I would recommend using Audacity. I've been using it for years now to produce my podcast and it has never done me wrong. With video - don't know of any off the top of my head. Just curious, what are you using to capture the video?

well i was hoping i could get both in one.... even though it is nice to know both audio recorders and also video recorders (separately), this time i was looking for something that would record the VIDEO AND SOUND on my computer... so combined into one at same time (like record the video on the screen and the audio coming out of the computer speakers or whatever)

    Thanks
