    Template for site

Howdy everyone. Im glad to see that there is a website out here for us new hosts to the industry. My name is James, and i have started my own hosting business dedicated towards the high storage, high bandwidth sites for paintball players. I already have one customer with two websites, and hope to add more.

My question today deals with this. After many hours of searching google, toying with dreamweaver, pulling my hair out, and many stubbed toes on the desk, i cant seem to come up with a decent quality template to reflect the services of my business. I was wondering if anyone designs, or can point me somewhere that wont charge me an arm and a leg (literally) for a good quality template to use as my main homepage for my site.

The few sites i have found want thousands of dollars for templates, and i'm not willing to part with that much money for something i think shouldn't cost that much. If anyone has any suggestions, i would be greatful to hear them.

Thanks, and i look forward to talking with alot of you soon, and joining many of the topics here!

    James

    Hello James! Welcome to WHT!

There are many people out there that make fantastic designs, some that I am sure you will like. Take a few minutes to look through the Design Offers Forum. There are some fantastic designs there for about $80! You could also take advantage of the Design Requests forum, but because the design is especially made for you, it generally costs more to request a design.

Good luck in your future business ventures!

Search google for "free templates", you will get some.

Remember, that you might not get an exact "paintball" template, but something closer to which you can relate to.

    Peace,

you're probably either going to have to pay for a custom design, or adapt a free template to your specifications yourself. You can probably find a free template at somewhere like OSWD and just customize the colors a bit, perhaps add some paintball pics.

Blue on gray looks horrible, I can't read text at all. My guess is that you got a pretty bleak template and were trying to spice it up. Unfortunately the colors you've chosen hardly do the job.
Maybe you should look further into free templates and find one spicy enough for your needs? Don't just settle, keep looking.

Honestly, there are hundreds (if not more) templates either totally free or for a very cheap price (like 15 - 20 dollars). The only problem with them is that everyone and their mother is using them

Layout is OK, colours...? well to be honest as a designer first thoughts on paintball hosting conjures up bright vibrant colours, when I look at your domain and then press the link I do not get what I expect to see, if you know what I mean.? My advice would be stick with this one but first get rid of the navigation bar and either try to build one yourself (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/) or get someone who knows how to code one for you. Find some of your own photo's/images to use on the site that will save you a fortune on stock photo's and that is another aspect that I would like/expect to see nice clean images of what the site is about. Oh and lastly a nice colourful logo would be great...

    Good Luck

zealous, yes i kinda dont have the dedicated page finished yet, im still waiting for info back from the folks about the servers.

killapix, thanks for the info. ive never been par to bright colors, as you can tell in the template. i will go check out dynamicdrive later today. ive seen them before, never really used them much. its hard to find images of paintball, and trying to mix technology into it, ya know? ha! im trying to find that right balance of paintball pictures, and severs. as for the logo, ive never been good at creating those .

kyletwokay, thats where i got this template from and tried to form it into my site. thanks for the info thou.

if anyone finds anything helpful, or could point me somewhere until i can get enough money to pay someone to make one, i would be very greatful!

    thanks everyone.

I agree it is a bit hard to find a free template that is not either used to death or needs so much work you may as well do your own...

I do have a suggestion about your billing/order system... I just randomly clicked a link on the nav bar and it happened to be the order button. I would suggest whatever template you choose, skin your phpCOIN with it as well...

Once you get going, I would also suggest upgrading to another system like Clientexec or WHMCS instead.

it's partially cutoff in firefox at 1440x900(the navbar, that is).

looks good in ie at the same resolution though.

The centering for the content just doesn't appeal. The design has potential, but there are plenty of issues in it at this time.

+ The top menu needs work, bad text and proportions.
+ The text seems a bit off in many areas, liek stretched or so.

For the style you're aiming for, you might wanna get some pointers from the look of asmallorange.com, where they have a similar simplistic design but the formattign of the text and such is appealing.

They should be able to get a similar feel for around $100, depends on what you need, though. You could always work on it by just modifying and simplifying.

Remember, people love convince As in, the less they have to work at something, the better. That being, the easier it is to navigate your site, the better. The design is essentially just "icing on the cake". In fact, check here for some good deals: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=56

I'm currently hosted with SurpassHosting.com, and they give free WHMCS licenses to Resellers and VPS. I've been on virtually all of their services (all the main ones), and have had experience for around 3 years. Decent support, good quality. Their VPS is a bit poor, so their shared/reseller solutions and dedicated server solutions are the only real services to look for.
