Anybody have information on galaxy visions as a dedicated host? I had received information from a few enterprise buddies of mine that VPS services are excellent as well as customer support. I am currently having some problems with my host and need to move over to a host closer to me in NY.
Pinging galaxyvisions.com from my location in Commack, NY took an average of 9ms. So, this would be a very quick hop speed for me from my house to administer. Also, I have a fiber optic 50 Mb/s connection to my home and I am achieving maximum sustained throughput of 2.93 MB/s (megabyte) on a 100 MB file from there servers. Those two numbers are very appeasing to me. But what about reliability? Does anyone have information?
My application is 3 domains to 3 seperate IP addresses using Plesk CP. I own all three operations below:
#1 An online business with online ordering revenue generated.
#2 Large Scale Automotive Based Vbulletin database. One of the largest Ford sites on the east coast: svtsnake.com (heavy random read/write operations all day long to a mysql DB)
#3 Large Hit + Unique Visitor Based Hardware Domain (nextlevelhardware.com) Heavy Traffic All Day Long
Thanks in advance,
Dominick

Use the search function of the board to view information on the host in question. You'll be able to see for yourself their history...
With that, I am not sure I would look at running what you are running on a VPS. If you are stuck on a VPS, I would look at bigvps.com or servint.com. BigVPS.com is unmanaged, ServInt.com is fully managed.
If you are going to move from a dedicated server to another dedicated server, I would look at LiquidWeb.com. They are fully managed as well and will help maintain and run your server for you.

Whoa, thats an incredible connection speed! Who is your provider?
Sorry, I do not have any information or advice to provide you on that host, I personally have had no experience with them.

hey guys.
Thanks for the response, yes I would be moving to a new dedicated server. I did use the search feature initially and came up with a lack of information on this company other than a few negative reviews before there new Brooklyn, NY based infrastructure has been created.
I am using Verizon FIOS fiber optic service with 50 MB/s down 20 MB/s up with a static IP address.
Regards,
Dom

I think you should do some more looking.
You'll find great dedicated servers and support at LiquidWeb. They are fully managed and will be a great fit for your forum.
For servers that you manage yourself, take a look at The Planet ( www.theplanet.com), Sagonet ( www.sagonet.com) and Burst ( www.burst.net).

Yes really, although come to think of it I think it may actually be on 30 Mbps down, not 50. But I am pretty sure FIOS has the capability of up to 100 currently, still in the trial phase. Either way, using speedtest.net I average between 27 Mbps to 33 Mbps testing from the NYC server.
EDIT*** So judging by the most recent plans I guess I am using a 30 down, 15 up plan. Sorry for the confusion.

All in all, both Cable and Verizon are excellent in my area and I couldnt be happier. I also average a 26 Mbps down and 3.5 Mbps up speed with cablevisions optimum service at work. I have attached a current shot of my work speed at the moment:
